I continuously develop research ideas. I seek collaborations and gladly welcome inquiries regarding the following themes or related topics:

Spatial impact of the Noord/Zuidlijn metro in Amsterdam

  • How do the form, function, morphology and use of station areas and the surrounding public space change before and after the opening of the line?

  • What processes and factors explain these changes?

  • How does the perception of these areas change over that period?

Working-from-home and commuting: lessons from the COVID-19 pandemic

The research explores people’s perceptions and experiences of working from home as an alternative to commuting. What do people see as the main advantages and disadvantages of working from home? Do they miss the experience of commuting to work, and if so, what aspects of it do they miss? Do they think they will likely work from home more often after the current restrictions are lifted?

CityLab covered our research as well.

Residential environments, mobility and accessibility

  • Is the preference of households for a certain residential environment related with the transport supply (access to highways, nearby transit hubs, cycling infrastructure) in that area?

  • What are the trade-offs households make between different attributes of the residential environment? do these trade-offs differ by household characteristics?

  • To what extent do households experience dissonance between their residential preferences and their residential location?

  • Key words: life-cycle; housing; residential choice; commuting; transport nodes
